ADHD assessments with care and understanding.

We’ll send you two forms to complete: one for you, and one for someone who knew you during childhood. These help us build a fuller picture of your experiences from early life through to the present.

The more detail you can provide, the more complete the assessment can be — but please don’t worry if this isn’t possible. Simply let us know, and your clinician will guide you through the process with understanding and support.

As part of our assessment process, we include a computer-based activity that explores patterns related to focus, attention and movement. This helps build a broader picture of how you or your child experience day-to-day tasks.

The results are combined with all other parts of the assessment to give your clinician a deeper understanding of your strengths and challenges. Your clinician will talk you through everything in a gentle, clear and supportive way.

You’ll meet with one of our specialist ADHD nurse practitioners or psychologists — either online or in person — to complete a structured DIVA-5 interview. This conversation gently explores your experiences in childhood and, where relevant, adulthood, helping us understand patterns related to attention, activity levels and daily functioning.

Many services complete this interview within the psychiatrist appointment, but we choose to carry it out beforehand. This gives your clinician more time to understand your story in detail, consider different factors that may be influencing your experiences, and prepare a clearer foundation for the next stages of your assessment.

This approach allows you to gain deeper insight into your strengths, challenges, and day-to-day experiences — with space for reflection, understanding, and support.

You’ll meet with one of our dedicated psychiatrists, either online or in person, for a thorough and supportive conversation. They will spend time understanding your experiences, reviewing the information gathered so far, and gently exploring areas such as daily functioning, relationships, education and work, where relevant.

Your psychiatrist will bring all of this together to provide a clear, thoughtful clinical understanding of your presentation. They will talk you through their perspective, explain their findings, and ensure you have space to ask questions and reflect.

During this discussion, your psychiatrist will also offer guidance on approaches that may support your wellbeing — which could include practical strategies, environmental adjustments, psychological approaches or other relevant pathways. Their aim is to help you feel informed, understood and confident about possible next steps.

After your appointment, you will receive a detailed written report summarising the assessment and setting out helpful recommendations. This may be used to request support in educational or workplace settings, or for other practical needs.

Your psychiatrist will always explain their conclusions with care and clarity, whether ADHD is identified or not, and may offer suggestions or signposting if further exploration could be helpful.

If you choose to access ongoing support with us, you’ll be able to meet regularly with one of our specialist practitioners. These check-ins provide space to discuss how you’re getting on, explore any challenges, and reflect on strategies or adjustments that may be helpful in day-to-day life.

Our practitioners take a caring, holistic approach — offering guidance, answering questions, and supporting you as you navigate your next steps. These sessions are designed to help you feel understood, reassured, and well-supported over time.

We know that understanding your assessment results can bring up questions or emotions, especially for children and families. If you feel you would benefit from extra support after receiving your report, you’re welcome to book a follow-up appointment with one of our specialist practitioners.

These sessions provide space to reflect, ask questions, and explore helpful next steps in a calm and supportive environment.

At the end of your support pathway, you’ll have a final check-in with one of our lead practitioners. This session gives you the opportunity to reflect on your progress, discuss how things are going, and ensure you feel confident about the steps ahead.
